                                                  Biography:

                                                  My name is Tiffany Marx and I currently live in Livingston, AL. I am a student in the RN to BSN Mobility Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I received my ADN from the University of West Alabama in May of 2011. Doing my tenure at the University of West Alabama I served as the President of the Student Nurses Association, Class President, a member of the West Alabama Nursing Advisor Board, a member of the Gilbert Award Committee, a member of the West Alabama Counseling Advisor Board, and Director South for the AANS Executive Board. I was the recipient of the 2011 University Scholars Award for the Ira D. Pruitt School of Nursing and the 2011 Montag Leadership Award. I also have a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in mathematics from the University of West Alabama. I am currently employee at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS as a registered nurse in Labor and Delivery. I am the proud parent of an 11 year old name Terrance. After completing my BSN, I plan to pursue a Master’s Degree in Nursing as well as a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and Business Administration. I am excited about my new role as President of the AANS Executive Board, and I am looking forward to great year.

                                                  Biography:

                                                  Tandy Hoover is married and lives in Jasper, AL. She is student at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, AL and will graduate in May of 2012 with her associate’s degree. Tandy graduated from Addison High School in Addison, AL in 2003 fourth in her class. She graduated with an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Bevill State Community College in Jasper, AL in May of 2005. Tandy has served as the president of her local ANS chapter since March of 2011. She was awarded the Outstanding Chapter President Award at the state convention in October 2011. Tandy speaks to new nursing students every semester at orientation about NSNA and the benefits of membership. She also volunteers free time to assist instructors at Wallace State to guide the newer students. After graduating from Wallace State, she hopes to begin her career as a labor and delivery nurse. Tandy plans to continue her education and become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. She would like to do travel nursing and one day work with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Tandy plans to join the state and national nurse’s organizations and remain active with them. Tandy served on the AANS BOD as the Vice-President in2011 and is excited to serve as your 2011-2012 Vice-President.

                                                  Biography:
                                                  Brittany Holston is a second degree student currently enrolled in the Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion and Behavior from the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.  Brittany is an active member of her local chapter and is currently serving as a board member.  One of her future goals is to become employed in a local community where she can promote health and wellness to all patients regardless of their income and race.  She looks forward to serving on the executive board and working to achieve the goals of the Alabama Association of Nursing Students.

                                                  Biography:

                                                  I am a senior at the University of South Alabama located in Mobile, Al. This is my first term as AANS secretary, though I am very excited and eager to do so. I have been active in my local chapter and plan on getting my doctorate in either Pediatrics or Family Practice. I believe that we are called to nursing as compassionate individuals. I am excited to show this compassion to my patients and hopefully one day to students, as I would like to teach at a college of nursing after working as a Nurse Practitioner.

                                                  Biography:

                                                  Alisha Quick is a student at Central Alabama School of Nursing in Childersburg.  She is the 2011-2012 Communications Director for the Alabama Association of Nursing Students, AANS.  She is the Vice President of her school chapter, Vice President of Leadership for the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, and serves as a student advisor for student services as well.  After completing her associates degree Alisha plans to continue her education and receive a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and then on to become a Nurse Practitioner.  Alisha looks forward to serving on the Alabama Association of Nursing Students board as your 2011-2012 Communications Director.

                                                  Biography:

                                                  Randy currently attends Wallace State Community College in Hanceville. There he serves as Vice President of the WSCC Association of Nursing Students. Randy formerly attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he earned a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Biology. He is also a single father to two beautiful daughters (11 and 7). Randy plans on continuing his education by earning a Master's Degree in Nursing and plans to work as a Critical Care nurse once he graduates.

                                                  Biography:
                                                  In May of 2010 I graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Science from Northwest Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals, AL. I was accepted to Wallace State Community College to begin the ADN Program in August of 2010. My anticipated date of graduation is May of 2012. From there I plan to complete the RN-BSN mobility program at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. My interests include trauma/ER and oncology with regards to adolescents. I am very excited about serving as the 2011-2012 Community Health Director of AANS! My goals for this year include increasing participation in state projects, involvement in chapters, and awareness of the organization and its motives.

                                                  Biography:

                                                  Kara Folsom attends Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, and serves as Secretary of her local ANS chapter.  Kara graduated from Snead State Community College and the University of Alabama, and worked in retail management for several years.  After her six-year-old nephew, Auston was diagnosed with leukemia she decided to return to school and purse a degree in nursing.  Kara plans to continue her education and get a master’s degree, after graduation in August in 2012, and work as a pediatric oncology nurse.  Kara is excited about being on the executive board, and looks forward to helping achieve the goals of the Alabama Association of Nursing Students.

                                                  Biography:

                                                  My name is Anika Boyd. I am the 2011- 2012 Breakthrough to Nursing Director for the Alabama Association of Nursing Students, AANS. I am a senior nursing student at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and currently serve as First Vice President for the UA Huntsville Association of Nursing Students. In my spare time, I enjoy yoga and spending time with my family and friends. I love to laugh and enjoy a good joke. 

                                                        I have been very blessed to have the opportunity to serve as the AANS Breakthrough to Nursing Director.  I enjoy working with people and am extremely excited about meeting new people and helping to raise membership for the AANS and National Student Nurses’ Association, NSNA. Nursing is my passion, and if I can inspire at least one person to become interested and embrace the field of nursing, I know that I am making a difference within my profession. I hope that while serving as Breakthrough to Nursing Director I can meet many new people and work with those who want to make their school’s Breakthrough to Nursing Program as successful as possible.

                                                  Hello my name is Michele Blue and I will be your new Director of Nominations and Elections South Region. I currently attend Central Alabama Community College where I serve as President of our Student Nursing Association. I also serve as a Mentor to incoming nursing students as well. I look forward to serving you and helping you grow your school chapters and hopefully sparking interest in some of you to run for State or even National office.
