Larry Slater is currently a senior in the School of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). After spending four years traveling the world working onboard a luxury cruise liner, he decided to return to Birmingham and to school to seek his BSN in nursing.
Since returning to school in Fall 2005, Larry has been active on campus, becoming a Senator in the Undergraduate Student Government Association, where he currently serves as its Publicity Coordinator. He was also on the Executive Council for the UAB Gay/Straight Student Alliance.
Upon entering UAB’s School of Nursing last spring, Larry immediately jumped into the Student Nurses’ Association, the local UAB chapter of the NSNA and AANS. He has been active ever since, serving as Parliamentarian and as a representative to the NSNA Annual Convention in Anaheim, CA. He was also appointed as a member of the NSNA Resolutions Committee for 2007-2008.
Larry graduates in August 2008. After graduation, he plans to return to school to seek his PhD in nursing with the hopes of becoming a nursing educator and researcher.
